Call for Participation

The Blender Foundation is pleased to launch a call for proposals for the Blender Conference LA 2020, to be held June 1-2 at the Fonda theater in Hollywood, CA.

For the first American Blender Conference we've defined three main goals, which are also a theme for presentations:

- Case Studies: examples of using Blender in production (media, science, product development)
- Developer on-boarding: for new developers who want to contribute to Blender
- Networking: the conference should bring together supply and demand for professionals

Theater talks (max 25 min)

The Fonda Theater has a single large auditorium, seating up to 350 people. Here we will only schedule talks lasting 20-25 minutes.

For the Theater we expect presenters to talk in "TED" style. You will get a headset microphone, and we recommend you to use our presentation system with wireless control. Walk around freely, absorb the audience with your presence! We'll record the talk with 1 or 2 cameras. We might not have sufficient bandwidth for live-stream, this is being studied on.

Feel free to engage with your audience and ask them questions to test if your message arrives. But skip the awkward Q&A in the end. Just invite people to walk to the stage or to meet with you in the lobby or at the rooftop cafe.

We especially welcome case studies by and for professional users of Blender

Case studies give the audience a chance to engage with applications of Blender in a variety of fields. For this year's conference, we  specifically look for case studies that address the theme of professional uses of Blender, and specifically examples of animation film work, visual effects, game design and the integration of Blender in the movie or game studio pipelines. How is Blender being used and developed in different business areas?

Deadline is March 31st, 2020 - On request we'll accept talks before this date, especially for people traveling longer distance.
