Design in CAD vs Blender: a 3D printing perspective

Blender can be used in many ways for many purposes. One of these applications is 3D Printing. However, now that the market of professional and high tech applications of 3D printing is growing, the questions arise if Blender could play a role in a profesional 3DP setting. Or is it more for the hobbyist?

In this talk I will walk you through the two main applications Blender can have in an actual 3DP company. I will talk about the limitations, as well as the practical applications. I will show useful examples as well as my professional vision.

  • I'm an application engineering at Bond 3D, a company that develops 3D printers for high performance polymers such as PEEK. I design and sell 3D printed jewelry since 2011 as a hobby when I was still a student. After designing in many different CAD/3D modelling programs I learned Blender a couple of years ago. It has become my absolute favorite modelling software.
