Blender at Volkswagen Group

This presentation is about how Blender is currently used within the Volkswagen Group and where we see its future potential. We address specific challenges in applying Blender to technical workflows in comparison to other applications and present a custom-developed add-on for Diagnostic Shading as a targeted solution.

  • - Worked 19 years in ICEM Surf R&D in different roles and solutions.
    - Since 2015 in charge of all 3D Modeling Tools such as ICEM Surf, Alias, Rhino, Grasshopper and Blender within the VW Group.

  • Alina Schubert has been working as a CAS Designer at Volkswagen since 2020, creating digital design models for both interior and exterior. She mainly uses Icem Surf and has been exploring Blender for several years, developing custom add-ons to support its integration into design workflows
